Paul O’Rear has 35 years’ experience in international and domestic real estate finance.
Prior to founding Shoreline Commercial Funding, he was an investor in Bridger Commercial Funding where he served for 10 years as Chief Credit Officer and head of Underwriting. At Bridger, he oversaw origination of some 800 commercial mortgage backed security loans, totaling $4 billion, for sale into the secondary market. In addition to his responsibilities as chair of Bridger’s Loan Committee, he developed the firm’s BankXchange loan sale advisory platform as well as its Asset Management program.
Before joining Bridger in 2001, Paul spent 18 years with Bank of America in various real estate finance capacities including construction, term and permanent loan origination, credit approval, distressed asset workouts, REO property management and disposition, and distribution of real estate capital markets products. From 1994 to 2000 he developed and ran Bank of America’s Asia Commercial Real Estate program with a $1.6 billion balance sheet of construction, permanent and working capital loans, with production teams in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.
Paul graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1978 with degrees in Business Economics and Environmental Studies. He is a licensed real estate broker (CA BRE #01905391).
